Each time a considerable and enigmatic event occurs, men seek not only the
person who is responsible, but, when they are the victims, a culprit. And
they are not satisfied in general with a motive, they need a conspiracy.
The idea is always tempting: a conspiracy suggests that the unexplainable is
rooted in a secret operation, cowardly, hidden, global, coherent action
organized long in advance by a small group pulling the strings in the
shadow, and it would be enough to get rid of it to fix the problem.
Today, the conspiracy theory spreads like wildfire to explain the economic
and financial crisis. Or rather the theory of conspiracies. Because in fact,
one thousand one conspirators are denounced: we hear also in a peremptory
way that the crisis was, for a long time, wanted, thought, organized and led
with a masterful hand by all the U.S banks, to transfer their losses on
taxpayers; by Goldman Sachs to push aside its competitors; by the oil
companies, so that a recession stops the investments and pushes up the crude
oil price; by the holders of gold, to make it go up; by the holders of
silver, to replace gold; by the Democrats, to beat the Republicans, by the
Republicans to leave the dirty work to the Democrats; by China to supplant
the United States, by causing a drop in interest rates, inciting Americans
to go into debt, by the United States to ruin China, which has placed most
of its reserves in dollars; by the European Central Bank, to put on its
knees the dollar; by the islamists, to destroy financial capitalism after
having destroyed the Twins Towers. Each having a theory claiming to have
full documented evidence firmly established, from the safest sources, on the
veracity of their thesis.
Of course, some groups reported in this long list have benefited, benefit or
will benefit from the crisis, one way or another, because many have found a
way to extract the best from the situation. But none of them is responsible,
they were able to benefit from it, which is not at all the same thing. Any
other, placed in the same situation, would have also saught to benefit, if
only to survive. And it is important to force these powers not to worsen the
situation by adding “fuel to the fire.”
Others designate conspirators all the more hidden than they are completely
imaginary: Jews, Freemasons, the Illuminatis.
Indeed, if there is a conspiracy, it is this one: any power, any lobby, even
a dying one, especially a dying one, requires, to last, to give a meaning to
what he cannot explain and to do so to denounce this conspiracy and appoint
a scapegoat. And as all the powers, are, in globalization, each in its own
way, dying, there will be an avalanche of scapegoats, and the executioners
will kill each other.
Here are the basics: no power, no forces of opposition, no longer has any
serious influence on the course of events, because humanity has been
overwhelmed by the systems it has created, beginning with market. And
conspiracy theories are primarily a manifestation of the inability of
humanity to face its destiny.
We should therefore have the courage, today to address the rules of the
game, not the players, if we are to avoid having the game turn into a
slaughter.
